Ruth 3:10 

“And he said, blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.”

Beloved, Ruth according to the scriptures was a gentile woman because she was from the country of Moab. She did not raise the dead or cast out devils or used by God to perform any miraculous act in her time, yet her story still impact lives till this very day. WHY?

The text above shows us her secret, which is KINDNESS. Her heart was a kind heart with no ill feelings or evil imaginations. She kept her heart pure.  When our hearts are like this even God cannot resist blessing us beyond our imagination. God set aside the usual religious protocols just to place her in the lineage of our Saviour and Lord , Jesus Christ.

Today, let us consider the life of Ruth. A kind hearted woman that received extraordinary favour from God despite the fact that she was not a Jew. Then let’s make efforts to be kind towards one another and we will see God’s wonderful works manifest in our lives.

Acts 16:14-15

“And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 

And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.”

Beloved, the Bible is filled with people who carried out acts of kindness. The woman in our text above is a very rich woman because she sells expensive purple cloth but she was noted in scriptures because she showed kindness towards God’s servants.

First lesson is that God opened her heart. When we display kindness towards others it is a sign that God touched your heart. If God does not touch your heart, it will be very difficult to show any traits of kindness towards others.

Second lesson is that she displayed kindness towards the people that God used to help her find salvation and deliverance from religion because she was already practising Judaism.

We should show kindness towards the men and women that God is using to help us stay and stand strong in our relationship with Him. Another good example is the Shunamitte woman in second Kings Chapter four. She was also a very rich woman according to the Bible. She showed kindness towards Elisha the prophet. She was also noted in scriptures because of her act of kindness not because of her wealth. There are many rich people who are not very kind.

Today consider men and women that God is using Ito bless you and to enrich your life spiritually and extend kindness towards them too.

In closing, consider this scripture, “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

2 Samuel 9:1 

“And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Beloved, you need to be mindful of the things you do as an adult / parent because of the effect or impact it might end up having on your offspring/s.

The text above shows us how Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan became a recipient of the kindness of God through King David, because of his father’s relationship with David in the past. Jonathan protected David when Saul wanted to kill him and this act of kindness was never forgotten by David. 

Parents need to be mindful of their actions towards other people in general, because their children may be the ones to enjoy the benefits or suffer the consequences. In 2 Sam 10:1, you will see David deciding to show kindness to another person because of their father’s kindness towards him.

Psalm 105:41-42 says that,

“He (God) opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. 

For he remembered his holy promise, And Abraham his servant.”

In closing, what will God do to your children when He remembers you?

Be kind for your children’s sake.

Proverbs 31:26 

“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; And in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

Beloved, we need to ensure that our tongue or words expresses kindness. The above scripture shows us that the virtuous woman’s words were filled with kindness.

Words are powerful and we need to use them wisely. Words can hurt so deep and it can also heal so fast. If we speak kindly to one another we will see our lives blossom so beautifully in a very short period of time.

A woman with an alabaster box of ointment came to Jesus and she was ferociously attacked by people around Jesus uttering unkind words against her. Jesus on the other hand spoke kindly unto her. Here in this story Jesus showed us how we must deal with one another in difficult situations.

Today commit yourself to speaking kindly towards other people around you. Like the virtuous woman, kindly let your tongue be filled with the Law of Kindness.

Matthew 16:26 ..

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

YOUR SOUL OR YOUR GOLD 

Beloved, I was speaking with a fellow minister of God recently and these words came flying out of my mouth, “God is more interested in your soul than He is in your gold”.

There is a battle that humans have been fighting for thousands of years and are still fighting till today. This is the battle of making a choice between their SOUL and their GOLD. 

Gold is good and I am not against you having it but don’t sell or lose your soul just to have it. Your soul is priceless and there is no amount of gold than can buy it. 

Therefore ensure you secure your soul in Christ and don’t exchange it for earthly gold that has no eternal worth or value. 

Don’t love gold above your soul.
